Sir,
I have the honour to report for the information of His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government, that at a regular meeting of the Sanitary Board held yesterday, the following resolution, on the motion of Mr.Osborne seconded by Lt.Col.Ryan, was adopted.
"That the Sanitary Board are unanimously of opinion that an Assistant Medical Officer of Health is urgently needed, as the duties and responsibilities of the Department are more than one Medical man can be reasonably expected to undertake”.
As this matter has been before the Goverment on a former occasion, I beg to give briefly the following particu- lara.
On July 7th.,1899, the Medical Officer of Health applied for an Assistant, and the application was considered at a Regular Meeting of the Board held on July 20th.,1899. It was decided to refer this application inter alia to a Committee consisting of the President, (Dr.Atkinson), the Medical Officer
of Health and Mr. Osborne.
